CARRIAGE HORSES
NEWSDAY LETTERS - MAY 16, 2006 The question should not be "Should carriage horses be restricted to Central Park?" but, "Should the carriage horse trade be banned entirely in New York City and other urban areas?" I believe, along with countless other New Yorkers, that the carriage horse trade is cruel and inhumane to horses and extremely dangerous to humans. Horses have died horrible deaths and people have been seriously injured. Accidents are much too frequent. Is it going to take a human fatality for lawmakers to finally come to their senses? Why wait for a tragedy like that? Susan Wagner Editor's note: The writer is president of Equine Advocates. Flushing Return to Letters
