CARRIAGE HORSES
Published in AM-NYC, Letters to the Editor, January 10, 2006 David Patterson is correct when he states in his letter that “horses do not belong on the city streets next to carbon monoxide belching trucks and cars.” However, confining the carriage horses to Central Park is not an option as he suggests in his recent letter. All of the stables are located a distance from the park and the horses have to use the crowded streets to travel to and from this location. Many accidents, such as the recent one in which Spotty, the horse, was killed, have occurred when the driver was either taking the horse back to the stable or on his way to the park.
