Re “Crash highlights carriage risks”: Thank you so much, Am-New York, for being the only daily to describe this poor intelligent animal’s terrible death in compassionate terms. Elsewhere, he was a carcass, an it, an afterthought to the coverage of this sad incident. By describing the problems of taking a “…big, shy animal onto the frenetic city streets,” you vividly remind us that animal protection and human decency – two notions that ennoble and nurture each other – are worthy of media acknowledgement.
