HORSE SLAUGHTER BILL - TIME IS RUNNING OUT!
Call-in day successful - four new co-sponsors
Thanks
to all of your calls, four new co-sponsors, including Hillary
Clinton, has signed on to the bill. But the American Horse Slaughter
Prevention Act -S.1915 must pass before Congress adjourns for the
year.
Please call Senator Bill Frist, the Majority Leader, and
urge him to get S.1915 out of committee and onto the floor
for a vote. Telephone number is (202) 224- 3344. Fax number is (202)
228-1264.
AETA PASSES IN HOUSE BY 2/3 VOTE
Only 6 Congressman vote - Kucinich is the only vote
against
As many of you are aware, the Animal Enterprise Terrorism
Act (AETA) passed in the House despite your outpouring of faxes,
emails and phone calls. It only took 15 minutes to pass and although
House membership is over 400, only six Representatives were on the
floor to vote - and only Dennis Kucinich spoke out and voted against
it. Read a first hand report from the day it passed on the
NO Aeta's web site. This bill is
expected to be signed into law by President Bush and will have a
very chilling effect on those who advocate for animals.
Please make a point to contact your representative to tell
him/her how dismayed and angry you are that they did not stand up
for the constitution and first amendment rights. Ask for a meeting.
Visit the NoAeta web site - www.noaeta.org for updates and talking
points. To find your Congressman,

Advocating about animal issues is the most compassionate and
selfless cause - because it is not about our own rights but the
rights of other beings who do not have a voice. Yet, this has caused
us to be maligned and now with this bill - considered to be a
separate class.
McCARTHY ERA FOR ANIMAL ADVOCATES?
November 13th a shameful day for our country
"First
they came for the Communists, but I was not a Communist so I did not
speak out. Then they came for the Socialists and the Trade
Unionists, but I was neither, so I did not speak out. Then they came
for the Jews, but I was not a Jew so I did not speak out. And when
they came for me, there was no one left to speak out for me.? -
