It's a hard life they lead
Manhattan: The New York City carriage horse industry is a disgrace. These good-natured horses serve about four years on the streets, living in unnatural confinement, and are then slaughtered and replaced. The retirement farms are an urban myth.

Glen Oaks: Now that a carriage horse owner has been arrested for attempted bribery, are we supposed to be confident in his claims that all is on the up and up in the stables? This arrest only reinforces that something is amiss. Who's overseeing those who oversee the animals?
